Standing with Israel. Strengthening our community.

The Atlanta Israel Coalition runs on people who decide that standing with Israel is worth showing up for. This is the case for why that work matters now, and what your support makes possible.

A grassroots coalition, built since 2018

The Atlanta Israel Coalition is a grassroots, nonpartisan organization educating, mobilizing, and uniting communities in support of Israel and against antisemitism — in Atlanta and around the world. Cheryl Dorchinsky founded AIC in 2018 and built it, program by program, into one of metro Atlanta's most active pro-Israel organizations. The work is principled, informed, and unapologetic.

Why this work, now

Antisemitism in America has reached a level the modern community has not seen. The ADL counted 9,354 antisemitic incidents nationwide in 2024 — the highest in the audit's history, and a 344% rise over five years. The FBI logged 1,938 anti-Jewish hate crimes the same year: 69% of all religiously motivated hate crimes, against a population that is roughly 2% of the country.

Atlanta is no bystander to this. In January 2026, mayors from ten metro-Atlanta cities convened a regional roundtable to confront it. And the danger now reaches the kind of gathering AIC holds every week — in 2025 a gunman murdered two people outside a Jewish event at the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, and weeks later an attacker firebombed a solidarity walk in Boulder. Publicly advertised Jewish community events are confirmed targets.

“These are not distant headlines. They show up on our campuses, on our streets, and in our inboxes.”

— AIC, Facts on the Ground: Atlanta's Jewish Security Gap, October 2025

What your support builds

AIC's work runs on four tracks.

Education & Briefings. AIC hosts speaker forums, policy briefings, and community conversations that give Atlantans the facts and the confidence to engage. In May 2026, AIC brought Holocaust survivor Sami Steigmann to the community; in July 2026, it convened Justice Beyond Borders, a panel of American families and advocates on terrorism and accountability.

Advocacy & Community Mobilization. AIC equips individuals and organizations to stand with Israel and to answer antisemitism with clarity. It convenes rabbis, pastors, elected officials, and neighbors across faiths into one nonpartisan coalition, and it coordinates rapid response when the community needs it.

Missions & Humanitarian Relief. When communities in Israel face crisis, AIC shows up — on the ground and in partnership with trusted local organizations. Since October 7, AIC has led five direct-aid missions and 200+ volunteer days in Israel, including the 11-day Hearts United, Boots on the Ground relief mission.

Joy & Resilience. AIC also builds the parts of Jewish life worth protecting. Its weekly Finding the Joy column and the Kosher Duck Revolution — a movement of kosher-themed ducks carrying Jewish pride from Atlanta to destinations around the world — keep connection and joy at the center of the work.

The cost of showing up safely

AIC has no building of its own. Every program happens in a synagogue, a church, a community center, a hotel ballroom, or a living room — so AIC contracts licensed, armed security for each public event it holds. For an organization this size, that protection is among the largest costs it carries, and it comes straight out of the budget that would otherwise fund more programming. Gathering openly and safely, in a year when Jewish events are targeted, is itself part of the work.
