The sitting U.S. Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Anti-Semitism, Elan Carr, spoke to the Atlanta community on antisemitism, anti-Zionism and what U.S. policy was doing about both.

    U.S. Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Anti-Semitism

    Carr advised the Secretary of State and directed U.S. policy aimed at countering antisemitism worldwide. Before his appointment he was a Deputy District Attorney for Los Angeles County and an officer in the U.S. Army Reserve. The son of Iraqi Jewish refugees, he speaks Hebrew and Iraqi Arabic; deployed to Iraq in 2003–04, he led Jewish services in one of Saddam Hussein's former presidential palaces in Baghdad.

AIC brought the sitting U.S. Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Anti-Semitism to Atlanta in his first year in the job.

Elan Carr advised the Secretary of State and ran U.S. policy against antisemitism worldwide. He spoke about what that work looked like from inside the State Department, and about anti-Zionism as the form the hatred takes when it wants to be respectable.

Sixteen Atlanta congregations, organizations and businesses sponsored the program, and it was open to the whole community — ten dollars at the door, free for students.
