    A historian of modern Europe and of antisemitism. His books include *Reactionary Modernism*, *Divided Memory*, *The Jewish Enemy*, *Nazi Propaganda for the Arab World*, *Undeclared Wars with Israel*, and — the book behind this talk — *Israel's Moment: International Support and Opposition for Establishing the Jewish State, 1945–1949*.

Herf’s Israel’s Moment is about the four years when Israel’s establishment was still genuinely in doubt, and about who worked to stop it. This talk drew on that book.
