Missions & Humanitarian Relief · January 2027
We’re going back in January.
From 11 to 22 January, Cheryl Dorchinsky and Kirsten Abrahamson will be in Israel delivering aid to the people AIC has been showing up for since October 7. What they bring depends on what we raise. Our goal is $10,000.
Toward our goal raised of $10,000

Why now? We’re building the list for January right now. Give before Cheryl and Kirsten fly, and you help decide what goes in the suitcases.
Give to the missionThe trip
Twelve days, and a list of needs.
Cheryl Dorchinsky, AIC’s Founder and Executive Director, is going with Kirsten Abrahamson, our Treasurer. They land on Monday, 11 January and fly home on Friday, 22 January.
Before they go, we put out a list of what’s needed, and they carry it over. One stop is already on it: Shuva Junction, near the Gaza border, where Cheryl has promised to restock the closet. The rest of the list comes from the people we work with in Israel, because they’re the ones who know which family needs what.
Cheryl and Kirsten pay their own way, tickets and all. So the money raised for relief goes to relief.

Shuva Junction
Where the wounded were brought on October 7.
On AIC’s live tour of the Nova site on October 7, 2026, David Sussman turned off the road at Tzomet Shuva. Three years earlier, the wounded from the kibbutzim and the Nova festival were brought there for the helicopters. Brothers from the Shuva community came out with food, drinks and shade, and the people wanting to help followed.
It never stopped. Achim Shuva has fed and supplied soldiers on their way in and out of Gaza ever since: a hot meal, a hug, socks, a tent, whatever they need. AIC volunteers restocked it in December 2025, and we’re going back.
“We’ll be going back in January, putting out a list of needs, and we stock their closet.”

Most needed right now: IFAK trauma kits, the individual first-aid kit a soldier carries. They’re at the top of the list.
- Most needed
IFAK trauma kitsOur most-needed item. The trauma kit a soldier carries on their body, the first thing anyone reaches for when someone is hurt. We can use as many as you can send.
Warm winter socksCold, wet feet make a long shift miserable. Thick merino socks for soldiers, and for the closet at Shuva Junction where they stop on the way in and out of Gaza.
Protein barsKosher protein bars a soldier can keep in a pocket through a long shift. They go to the Shuva Junction closet and the units we visit.
Electrolyte drink mixHydration for soldiers working long hours in the field. Light enough that we can bring a lot of it.
Solar power banksSo a soldier in the field can still call home. These travel in our carry-on, so we can only bring so many.
LEGO for rehabFor soldiers recovering from their wounds in rehab, like at Sheba. They love these.
Ships straight to Cheryl through Amazon. Items shown are examples from the list.
We’ve done this before
Five missions since October 7.
AIC has made five direct-aid missions to Israel since October 7 and put in more than 200 volunteer days on the ground. In December 2025 our volunteers worked the land at the Na’aleh therapy farm, brought toys to a children’s home in Kiryat Gat, and restocked the junction at Shuva. See our missions
