    Shai Davidai

Author, and formerly of Columbia Business School

Since October 7th, Shai Davidai has been one of the most outspoken voices in North America against antisemitism and support for terrorism, at real personal and professional risk. More than 250,000 people follow him on social media, and his podcast, Here I Am with Shai Davidai, reaches tens of thousands every week. He also created and hosts Pragmatic Judaism, a podcast about Judaism as a blueprint for Jewish continuity, peoplehood and survival.

The Jerusalem Post named him one of its 50 Most Influential Jews of 2024. The Knesset has honored him, and he received the Jerusalem Prize at the Jerusalem Conference in New York.

He has a PhD in social psychology from Cornell and has taught at Princeton, the New School and Columbia. He lives in New York City with his wife, the author and translator Yardenne Greenspan, and their two young children. American Intellectual Antisemitism: The Anti-Jewish Movement Tearing Through Our Universities is Shai Davidai’s account of what he found when he started asking questions out loud on his own campus, and of what the institutions around him did next. He taught at Columbia Business School until he resigned in July 2025, so he is not writing about this from a distance — he is writing about the place he left.

He is in Atlanta two days before us, speaking at the MJCCA Book Festival on Sunday 15 November. This is the quieter version: an hour online with people who have read the book, and his answers to their questions rather than to a reporter’s.

If you’re at college, or you’ve got a kid who is, come to this one.

Read it beforehand if you can. Shai comes on at eight to take questions, stays about twenty minutes, and then we carry on talking about it. Stay on afterwards to schmooze — that part is never recorded.
