Nearly a year after October 7, we went back to Israel live with David Sussman, three times, free, with the Jewish Interest-Free Loan Association of Georgia.
Hostage Square, Tel Aviv — Sunday, 1 September. The plaza in front of the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, where the hostages’ families have kept vigil since October 7. We saw the Empty Shabbat Table, the replica Hamas tunnel, and the Bring Them Home installations, and talked with family members of people still held in Gaza.
Kibbutz Re’im — One of the Gaza-border kibbutzim Hamas attacked that morning. David walked the ruins and told the stories of the people who defended their homes and saved lives, and the stories of the community since.
The Nova festival site — The field next to Re’im where Hamas attacked the Nova music festival.
A Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta Gather Grant paid for the series, with support from the Consulate General of Israel to the Southeast and Congregation B’nai Torah. The same grant funded our evening on volunteering in Israel. David’s earlier tours with AIC are in the Live Tours from Israel playlist.
