Georgia Capitol Day 2023: Vote Yes on HB 30
Students and community members met Georgia legislators at the State Capitol to urge a yes vote on HB 30, which adopts the IHRA definition of antisemitism.
Students and community members went to the Georgia State Capitol on the morning of Wednesday, February 22, 2023, to ask their legislators to vote yes on HB 30. The bill adopts the IHRA definition of antisemitism, so that the law treats antisemitism the way it treats any other form of bigotry or racism, and Jews get equal protection in cases of antisemitic crime and discrimination. Everyone who registered got a briefing on Zoom beforehand.
AIC called its community to the Capitol alongside StandWithUs Southeast, the Israeli American Council, Hillels of Georgia, AJOCC, the JCRC of Atlanta, and others. We came back for another Capitol Day in January 2024, and HB 30 became law at the end of that month.
