January 27 is International Holocaust Remembrance Day, the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau in 1945. AIC marked it in 2022 with Holocaust survivor Sami Steigmann, at 9 p.m. Eastern on Thursday, January 27.
AIC’s listing tied the evening to the week before. On January 20 the UN General Assembly had adopted a resolution, put forward by Israel and Germany, that rejects and condemns Holocaust denial, and the listing said Sami had been part of it.
Cheryl Dorchinsky and Alicia Post joined him. The picture on AIC’s listing for the evening was an invitation to the Zionism Forward club on Clubhouse.
Sami came back to AIC in May 2026, for an evening in Atlanta and a virtual one the night after.
