Three Minutes: A Lengthening, in Atlanta Theaters
AIC was a community partner for the Atlanta run of Three Minutes: A Lengthening, the documentary built from three minutes of 1938 home-movie footage of the Jews of Nasielsk, Poland.
In 1938 David Kurtz shot three minutes of home-movie footage, mostly in color, in Nasielsk, Poland. They are the only known moving images of the town’s Jews before the Holocaust. Bianca Stigter’s documentary studies those minutes in close detail to recover the people in them, and follows Kurtz’s grandson Glenn as his search ends up connecting a Holocaust survivor with his lost childhood. Helena Bonham Carter narrates.
The film won the jury award for best documentary at the 2022 Atlanta Jewish Film Festival and opened in Midtown on Friday, September 2, 2022, for at least a week. Tickets were $10 at the theater. AIC was one of the community partners, with the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta, ADL Southeast, the Atlanta Jewish Film Festival, the Breman Museum, the Georgia Commission on the Holocaust, and others.
